5th Generation

Josh, Ryan and Ben are the 5th generation of farmers to farm in the region.

Stan and Arlene Lamb

Stan and Arlene are the main reason that Lamb Farms exists. Stan has been farming for as long as he can remember. In 1959 he married Arlene and they raised 4 children on our current home farm east of Claresholm. Stan is now retired; he and Arlene have since moved to town. Stan still contributes in the summer by keeping our lawns mowed and yards looking nice, and in the winter he keeps busy shoveling snow and helping out where he can.

Stan and Arlene Currently have 25 great grandchildren. He has said "I am the luckiest man in the world! as I get to work side by side with my children and grandchildren."

Ron then married a local farm girl and nurse Doris (Leeman). They have four children. Ryan who is now our farm mechanic. Christina, Jason and Scott. Doris is a nurse at the Claresholm General Hospital. Ron's love is for management and field crops, using these skills Ron acts as our marketing and general manager.

Ryan Lamb

The son Ron and Doris. Ryan is our mechanical genius, after high school he apprenticed for the local New Holland dealership. Upon receiving his red seal in Ag Mechanics, Ryan stayed at New Holland for 2 more years and completed his Red Seal in both heavy duty on-road and off-road mechanics. After which he took some time off to go work on farms in Australia simultaneously deciding that he wanted to farm with the rest of the family. Ryan promptly took over running of the farm shop, he does a great job keeping all of our machines up and running.

Cal and Janice spent 20 productive and enjoyable years with Lamb Farms, as our building maintenance and irrigation manager. As of the fall of 2017 Cal has since entered semi-retirement from farm life. Choosing to fill his time working part-time for the farm, helping the next generation whenever they need it, while spending the rest of his time helping his children with their non-farm ventures and enjoying spending a little extra time with his grandchildren.

Fritz and Linda Fankhauser

Linda is Stan and Arlene Lamb's youngest and only daughter. As she grew up she vowed she would never marry a farmer. After some schooling Linda went to work in Calgary in the banking industry. While she may have said she would never marry a farmer Linda ended up marring Fritz; a Swiss immigrant who came to the area to learn English and is from a long line of Swiss dairy farmers. Linda heads up our book keeping department and now that her three children Josh, Miriam, and Ben, have moved out of the house, she started Mobile Office Services, and does general book keeping and accounting for others. Fritz grew up in Switzerland and emigrated to Canada when he was 13. Fritz loves cattle and loves working on the farm with his kids.

Josh and Shauna Fankhauser

The son of Fritz and Linda, Josh was born a farmer, according to his mother from the time he could talk he only talked farming (things have not changed much since then). Josh's path back to the farm seemed set from a very young age. After graduating from high school in Claresholm Josh worked in Quebec and Switzerland gaining experience in a wide variety of agricultural settings and in different growing regions. He attended Lethbridge College and graduated with a diploma in Plant and Soil Science after which he came back to work on the farm. Josh along with Ron looks after agronomy and the input component of the farm, he is happiest when standing waist high in one of his fields, particularly if it is one of his many research plots. Josh is married to Shauna who has a degree in Range and Pasture Management from the University of Alberta. Shortly after settling in on the farm in Claresholm Shauna worked as a research agronomist for Farming Smarter in Lethbridge. She has now moved onto more important things, raising the couple's 5 children Elizabeth (2011), Samuel (2013), Nathan (2014), Daniel (2016), and Hannah (2018).

Ben and Andrea Fankhauser

The son of Fritz and Linda, Ben was the opposite of Josh. He disliked farming and was never going to be a farmer. It took a few years away from home living a city life before he decided that the farming lifestyle had some perks to it. After graduating from the University of Waterloo in 2013 with a Bachelor of Computer Science. Ben came back to the farm for the summer and decided to stay long term. Ben is currently manages the cattle and irrigation. His other main area of expertise is programming and he uses it often at certain times of the year while he maintains this website or the farm database. Andrea graduated from the University of Waterloo in 2013 with a Bachelor of Arts in Speech Communications and is currently a full time mom. Isaac joined the crew in 2015, Micah in 2017 and Ezra in 2018.

Andrew Gray

Andrew is a local from a ranch west of Claresholm, he is the guy who has the hardest job of anyone on the farm as technically every other person on the farm is his boss. After working for a few years on the farm and doing a bit of everything, Andrew has settled into the shop; he is currently apprenticing under Ryan as a Heavy Duty Mechanic. Working for the farm 10 months of the year and attending trade school for two months every winter.
